It don't matter who's in Austin, Larry still can't sing

This morning we were up and headed for Driftwood, Texas and the "Salt Lick BBQ". Per People Magazine and The Food Channel, if you can only eat BBQ in one place before you die, this is it. We arrived at 10:30AM, about 30 minutes before opening and snooped around. It is an old Texas homestead in the middle of hill country. There are several outbuildings, an abundance of oak trees and a pool with a guardian peacock. If anyone remembers "Lonesome Dove" it looks like where Call brought Gus back to for burial.

When the doors opened we were ready. Just through the entry way is a large open flame hickory pit covered with meats. It is family type seating on picnic tables. We ordered brisket and ribs. Jeannie took one bite of her pork rib and pronounced it the best she has ever tasted. If you know how she feel about her Dad's and her Grandfather's ribs, you know this is high praise indeed. They have a haberno sauce that is unbelievable, spicy but not searing. We purchased three bottles, I make drink one tonight. After eating we saddled up and were off to Luckenbach to search for Willie and the boys. I heard they were feuding like the Hatfields and McCoys
